Bizarre |
Sunday 18th July 1971, 11.30pm
(4) |
(1) This episode was shown in place
of The Rotters,
which was billed in TV Times magazine. Newspaper listings
confirm this substitution. The Rotters was rescheduled to be screened
in the ATV region on
the evening of Friday 25th April 1969. However, there would be another
twist in the tale...
(2) The episode Killer was scheduled for this
date but appears to have been replaced with an unknown episode (Get-A-Way!
was shown instead in other ITV regions) or
another programme entirely.
(3) The Rotters - already pre-empted once on ATV in 1969 -
was rescheduled for Friday 25th April but again was not screened, this
time due to industrial action. It finally aired on Thursday 9th
October 1969. Definitely a case of third time lucky!
(4) ATV's first screening of Bizarre did not come
until 1971 when it rounded off a run of Series 6 repeats.

Wednesday 27th December 1978,
8.00pm (7) |
(5) Forward Base scheduled,
but replaced with The Gladiators.
(6) Emily scheduled, but replaced with Forward Base.
(7) This screening of Emily was a late replacement for Whicker's World:
Cruising - The Comfortable Adventure. The scheduled programme was
not available for broadcast due to the supplying company, Yorkshire
Television, being subject to industrial action, as revealed by Tom
English in his Television column in The Birmingham Post of
28th December 1978: "Satiated as I am with violence, gunfire, bad
driving and screaming tyres, The New Avengers film was an
unsatisfactory substitute for the Whicker's World piece,
promised last night (ATV), but postponed because of 'industrial
action' at Yorkshire Television."
Researched and compiled by Simon Coward, Alan Hayes,
Andrew Pixley
and John Tomlinson
