 The Avengers — Series 1

Anglia Television came on board with The Avengers earlier than most ITV regions, missing only the first six episodes, when they joined the ABC Network transmissions from Diamond Cut Diamond onwards. Anglia's first three Series 1 episodes were broadcast weekly, live from ABC Television's studios at Teddington Lock, Middlesex. Episodes 4-16 were shown fortnightly, alternating with a drama series set in the world of publishing, Deadline Midnight. The series reverted to a weekly schedule for episodes 17-20.

(4) Anglia scheduled Hostage on 8th December 1977, an episode that they had already transmitted as an unscheduled replacement for Forward Base. This was probably a hangover from the original intended running order, and it was quickly replaced with an episode of The Bionic Woman.
(5) The Gladiators was initially excluded from the Series 2 run by Anglia Television due to violent content. It was eventually shown in a late-night timeslot, well after the watershed, a few weeks prior to the start of a run of repeats of The New Avengers. Some newspapers marked the transmission as a repeat, but notably TV Times did not.
