 The Avengers — Series 2 (Best of The Avengers)

Best of The Avengers was the first ever Avengers repeat season, with seven ITV regions participating: ABC Midlands, ABC North, Anglia, Border, Teledu Cymru (WWN), Television Wales & West (TWW) and Ulster.

(1) Death of a Great Dane was scheduled on this date but was not screened due to an ACTT strike which resulted in almost all regional ITV companies being off the air from some time on Wednesday 1st July until some time on Monday 6th July 1964. There is evidence to suggest that Ulster did actually attempt to broadcast for part of Saturday 4th July but their emergency schedule comprised mostly feature films and bought-in film series with a closedown time of 9.45pm.

 The Avengers — Series 4

(2) There is some question whether this episode was actually broadcast.

 The Avengers — Series 5

(3) Several newspapers including The Times gave a timeslot of 11.15-11.55pm for this episode, which was clearly erroneous. Ulster's schedule beforehand was stated as following that of Thames and this confirms the handover and Avengers start time as being correct.

 The Avengers — Series 6

(4) Some newspapers have this Avengers transmission replaced by The New Dick Van Dyke Show in their Ulster Television listings, while others don't. It is possible, particularly as this broke from the normal Thursday schedule for The Avengers, that it was actually The Avengers that was replacing The Dick Van Dyke Show.
(5) This episode appears to have been moved to Monday night as the regular Thursday slot during this week was given over to tennis coverage.

 The New Avengers — Series 1 & 2

Ulster Television's two repeat runs of The New Avengers were transmitted over a period of seven years and one week - one might get the idea they were less than enthused! The run skipped between Series 1 and Series 2 and first and second repeats, so we present the broadcasts as they happened. Episodes are marked • (1) or •• (2), dependent upon which series they were originally a part of. 

(6) Episode scheduled but transmission cancelled due to 11-week ITV network strike which which blanked television screens in 14 of the 15 ITV regions between Friday 10th August and Wednesday 24th October 1979.
(7) This appears to have been Ulster's second repeat of this episode.
(8) A third repeat of this episode, perhaps suggesting its earlier repeat screenings did not go to plan.

 The New Avengers — Series 1 & 2

It would appear that ITV franchise operators were either offered or only chose to purchase a package of 20 episodes of The New Avengers for this repeat run. The following episodes appear not to have been included in the package: House of Cards, Cat Amongst the Pigeons, Dirtier by the Dozen, Dead Men Are Dangerous, Medium Rare and Obsession.

(9) A potted review in the local press the day after said, "In the Seventies, The New Avengers seldom reached the zany heights of their predecessors. But last night's episode was one of those few magical achievements." This doesn't reveal the identity of the episode, but it might discount a few!
(10) One newspaper, through its potted synopsis, implies that this was in fact K is for Kill — Part Two: Tiger by the Tail. This seems somewhat unlikely.
