(1) This break in transmissions appears likely to have been due to the ITV technicians' strike that interrupted broadcasts in all ITV regions between Saturday 3rd and Sunday 18th August 1968 and led, after an initial blackout, to a temporary ITV national service comprising films, imports and repeats.
(2) The Thirteenth Hole was scheduled twice, so presumably the first scheduled screening did not go ahead in the wake of the by then resolved technicians' strike.

(3) A Granada Television technicians strike meant that their transmissions and production went into abeyance between 26th May and 22nd June 1970, and while of course The Avengers itself was not affected, the schedule of all ITV regions was disrupted and confusion ensued. This transmission is a good example of that confusion as The Times gave The See-Through Man a 90-minute transmission slot starting at 7.00pm, which was plainly a result of the loss of Granada's ITV Network mainstay Coronation Street and was not an accurate picture of the night's broadcasts. The Kent Evening Post stated that This is Your Life was at 7.00pm, then The Avengers from 7.30pm, with an episode of the imported American comedy F Troop filling the remaining time between 8.30 and 9.00pm and Callan.

(6) Daily Mirror description for this episode is "...tackle undercover assassins involved in plot to overthrow the world." The Gladiators?
(7) It appears that Southern Television dropped Funny Man, a Thames Television showbusiness drama starring Jimmy Jewel, partway through its run and replaced it with unspecified episodes of The New Avengers.
(8) Southern Television lost its right to broadcast in the 1982 ITV franchise changes, closing down forever at midnight on Thursday 31st December 1981. It was immediately replaced by new franchise holder TVS (Television South). The repeat run of The New Avengers continued, unaffected.

Researched and compiled by Simon Coward, Andrew Pixley and Alan Hayes
