the first ever Avengers repeat season, with seven ITV regions
participating: ABC Midlands, ABC North, Anglia, Border, Teledu Cymru
(WWN), Television Wales & West (TWW) and Ulster.

episodes not previously screened by Border Television. They got their
first showings here!
(4) It would appear that Border Television screened only six
Best of The Avengers episodes whilst most other participating
regions aired seven. They scheduled an episode of GS5 on
Saturday 15th August 1964 in place of The Mauritius Penny, an
episode that Border had not previously transmitted.

Border Television's repeat
screenings of The New Avengers were chaotic and irregular, with
attempts to screen Series 2 episode Emily during the Series 1
run and zipping back to already-repeated Series 1 episodes just as the
Series 2 run appeared to be underway. Screenings were also greatly
spread out, with the repeat run taking several years and despite this,
never being completed. We present it here in all its inglorious
messiness. Episodes are marked • (1) or •• (2), dependent upon which series they were originally a

(6) This episode was rescheduled to
be shown on Wednesday 27th December 1978, but the last minute nature
of that replacement and its screening in other ITV regions in the same
slot, suggests that it in fact aired twice within six weeks in the
Border region.
(7) This screening of Emily was a late replacement for Whicker's World:
Cruising - The Comfortable Adventure. This scheduled programme was
not available for broadcast due to the supplying company, Yorkshire
Television, being subject to industrial action.
(8) Seemingly this was Border's second repeat of this episode.
(9) Are you keeping up? This appears to be the third run of this
episode, before others have been repeated even once... Of course, it
is possible that the second repeat on Sunday 19th October 1980 did not
go ahead.
