Considering the popularity of The Avengers in France, it seems quite astounding to consider that the Emma Peel Avengers episodes were not fully aired there until 1991. The episodes were dubbed into French in two batches, the first in the 1960s and the remainder in 1993 for the EMI home video releases, with the upshot that in Series 4 in France, Emma Peel has two voices!

 The Avengers — Series 4

(1) ORTF 2 ended their run of Series 4 episodes without exhausting the supply of French-dubbed episodes.The remainder would not air until 1973.

 The Avengers — Series 5

(2) ORTF 2 ended their run of Series 5 episodes without exhausting the supply of dubbed episodes. Some of these would air in 1973 but others would not be screened until 1978.

(3) These two episodes had been dubbed in the 1960s but were not screened until these transmissions.

 The New Avengers — Series 1

(7) In 1975, the Office de Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française (ORTF), was dissolved and split into various new companies. ORTF 1 was relaunched as TF1, remaining as a public broadcaster.

(12) Following the dissolution of the Office de Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française (ORTF) in 1975, the ORTF 2 channel became Antenne 2 (often shortened to A2), remaining as a public broadcaster.

(13) Four episodes — A Touch of Brimstone, The Danger Makers, Honey for the Prince and Room Without A View — were dubbed in the 1960s but remained unscreened until they were screened by FR3 (which shortly afterwards was rebranded France 3 in 1992).

(14) Three Series 2 episodes (Mr Teddy Bear, The White Dwarf and Immortal Clay) and one Series 3 episode (Man with Two Shadows) were chosen for a special event on Saturday 13th December 1997 to launch 13ème Rue's first run of the videotaped Avengers in France, ahead of the regular run which commenced in January 1998. This special transmission featured an exclusive introduction by Honor Blackman in which she spoke about being the first Avengers girl.

 The Avengers — Series 1

(15) Only two Series 1 episodes have been transmitted in France, The Frighteners (first transmitted in 1998 by the newly-launched 13ème Rue channel) and Girl on the Trapeze (which debuted on the ARTE channel in 2010). All transmissions of these two episodes were in English with on-screen French subtitles.
(16) The 13ème Rue channel transmitted The Avengers in an unpredictable fashion, meaning that while the series ran weekly for the most part, it would be screened in single-, double- and triple-bill slots without any apparent rhyme nor reason.

(17) The Frighteners had aired previously on the 13ème Rue channel in 1998.
(18) The transmissions on the Franco-German channel ARTE were simultaneous in Germany and France, but while the French broadcasts were in English with French subtitles, the German showings carried newly-recorded German language soundtracks. Episode were stripped daily on weeknights.
