Brief: This
edition saw these episodes digitally restored for the first
time since 1990. Technology has come on in leaps and bounds
since then and these episodes look better than ever before
on home video. Oddly, the Series 1 episodes were not
processed in this way.
The first pressing of
this release had problems affecting Discs 1, 3, 6 and 7. The
Disc 1 problems are player-specific and consumers are
advised to update their firmware. Corrected replacements for
Discs 3 (authoring fault in Propellant 23), 6
(transposed scenes in The Golden Eggs) and 7 (ten
seconds of footage missing from Conspiracy of Silence)
were made available from StudioCanal. Second pressing
sets include the corrected discs. |

Two Easter Eggs (London Line
and Das Diadem)
|
|
Brief: This
edition saw these episodes digitally restored for the first
time since 1990. Technology has come on in leaps and bounds
since then and these episodes look better than ever before
on home video or television.
The first pressing of
this release had problems affecting Discs 3 and 7. Corrected
replacements for Discs 3 (picture freeze at 43:20 in The Grave-Diggers) and 7 (digital drop-out in The Strange
Case of the Missing Corpse) were made available from
StudioCanal. Warehouse stock was held back so most
of the first pressing features corrected discs. If you have
the faulty discs, StudioCanal will replace them for you.
The 'London Line' extra
on Disc 2 is listed as "Behind the Scenes on The Cybernauts"
but actually focuses on the 1967 sequel Return of the
Cybernauts.
Too Many Christmas
Trees contains an incorrect writer credit -
Brian Clemens is shown ras
writer on the DVD print, when the correct
credit is Tony Williamson. It appears the opening titles of
The Town of No Return were inadvertently edited onto the
DVD master of this episode. |

|
Brief: Worldwide
premiere DVD release of the episode Tunnel of Fear,
which was recovered in 2016. The disc features the episode,
Ulster Television interviews with Ian Hendry (1962) and
Patrick Macnee (1964), the Big Finish audio adaptation of
Tunnel of Fear, 14 Series reconstructions, an interview with
actor/writer John Dorney and a 64-page booklet with essays
by Neil Hendry and Alan Hayes. Script PDFs were accidentally
missed off the disc and were initially made available by download
link. The disc was eventually repressed to include them and
the packaging was changed to acknowledge Ian Hendry's star
billing (i.e. IAN HENDRY as Dr David Keel / PATRICK MACNEE
as John Steed rather than having Macnee's credit appear
first). |

|
Brief: |
-
A brand new restoration
of The New Avengers which was simultaneously issued on
4K (UHD, deluxe packaging, black-coloured outer box) Blu-ray
(HD, deluxe packaging, orange-coloured outer box) and DVD
(SD, cream and cerise sleeve in plastic case) by StudioCanal
in the United Kingdom.
-
The DVD edition was cheap
and cheerful compared to the deluxe 4K and Blu-ray releases
and did not offer the printed Collector's Edition Booklet
or Collector's Edition Comic that they included.
-
Package design was by Sam
Smyth.
-
A
well-attended launch event was held at Riverside Studios
in London
on the afternoon of Sunday 9th November 2025. The new
restoration of The Eagle's Nest was screened in
full. The intention had been to follow this with the new
documentary, The Impact of The New Avengers: Reinvented
for a New Era, but this was not available to screen on
the day. Consequently the featurette Restoring The New
Avengers and a lengthy excerpt of Kicks, Flips &
Spy Tricks: The Stunt Magic of The New Avengers were
shown instead. The event also had a Q&A session with
guests Cyd Child, Samuel Clemens, George Clemens, Rodney
Marshall (Avengers author and son of writer Roger
Marshall) and Dick Fiddy.

There were
a couple of very minor issues with this release: The
Last of the Cybernauts...?? opens with out of phase
sound but this corrects itself after about 5 seconds, and
The Gladiators is missing approximately 1 second of
footage during the fight sequence immediately after the
opening titles. This was previously edited for DVD to
remove an ear clap which was then only certifiable at a
'15' BBFC rating in the United Kingdom. By 2025, it would
only have warranted a '12', which was the overall rating
of this box set.
