 The Avengers — Series 2 ("Best of The Avengers")

Best of The Avengers was the first ever Avengers repeat season, with seven ITV regions participating: ABC Midlands, ABC North, Anglia, Border, Teledu Cymru (WWN), Television Wales & West (TWW) and Ulster.

(1) Death of a Great Dane was scheduled on this date but not screened due to an ACTT strike which resulted in almost all regional ITV companies being off the air from some time on Wednesday 1st July until some time on Monday 6th July 1964.

 The Avengers — Series 4

(2) When Anglia Television completed their first run of Series 5 Avengers episodes with Return of the Cybernauts on Saturday 25th November 1967, they then continued their repeats of Series 4 from Saturday 2nd December 1967.
(3) There is some question whether this episode was actually broadcast or not.

(4) A ministerial broadcast earlier in the evening pushed this episode 10 minutes later than originally advertised.

(5) Medium Rare shown after second repeat run of Series 1 had commenced with Target! on Monday 10th March 1980.

(6) Target! received its second repeat on Anglia Television before Medium Rare had received its first.
(7) As To Catch A Rat was rescheduled for screening on Monday 15th June 1981, it appears that its earlier transmission on Thursday 15th January 1981 did not proceed as planned.

 The New Avengers — Series 1 & 2

(8) It is unclear when this programme started. The problem seems to be the preceding programme, Scoop, which was given a 9.00-11.00pm timeslot in the Anglia edition of TVTimes, with The New Avengers stated as following at 11.00pm. By the weekend of broadcast, the slot for Scoop appears to have been extended with the result that some newspapers billed the following programmes at 11.15pm and others at 11.20pm. As Scoop was a networked programme, this problem affected every ITV region, not just Anglia.

It would appear that ITV franchise operators were either offered or only chose to purchase a package of 20 episodes of The New Avengers for this repeat run. The following episodes appear not to have been included in the package: House of Cards, Cat Amongst the Pigeons, Dirtier by the Dozen, Dead Men Are Dangerous, Medium Rare and Obsession.

(9) Billed but almost certainly replaced by overnight War in the Gulf ITN programming (11.50pm-6.00am). Faces was rescheduled and shown by Anglia on Sunday 10th March 1991.
(10) Some Sunday newspapers list this at 11.50pm, but it is highly likely the transmission was pre-empted entirely by overnight ITN news coverage of the Gulf War. That said, Anglia appears not to have rescheduled Target!, so there is a slight possibility that it was retained in the schedule.
(11) The synopsis in Eastern Daily Press consists of only "A super team of", suggesting The Gladiators and perhaps a messy last-minute change to the typesetting resulting from a schedule change. Of course, The New Avengers were a "super team" in their own right, but the "of" indicates the full synopsis referred to other protagonists. It is possible that Target! was shown in this slot, but there is no evidence to support this suggestion and the "super team" description would not fit. The Gladiators was shown a week later.
